Caitlin Linscheid
Professional Background
Academic Specialist, Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of Kansas Medical Center.
Residency: Obstetrics and Gynecology, University of Kansas City Medical Center. 2017-2021.
I received my B.A. in psychology from Bethel College and my MD/PhD from the University of Kansas Medical Center under the mentorship of Dr. Peggy Petroff. My PhD research focused on better understanding the role of minor histocompatibility antigens in maternal-fetal immune interactions during pregnancy. We specifically looked at changes in minor histocompatibility antigens in pregnancies complicated by pre-eclampsia and growth restriction and the mechanisms by which oxygen levels within the placenta impact antigen expression. We also looked at the expression of antigens within exosomes released from the placenta and their interaction with maternal T-cells.
Following graduation, I completed a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Kansas Medical Center. I remained active in research, focusing on the impact of early life stress on maternal and neonatal health outcomes.

After residency, I took a position as an Ob/Gyn at the University of Kansas Medical Center where my research interests continue to be the impact of early life stress and trauma on maternal and neonatal health outcomes.
I am passionate about teaching learners in both clinical and surgical settings and advocating for initiatives to improve birth equity in both rural and urban environments.
